From Remembrance to Rebirth: Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha’atzmaut
As Israel enters Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day for Israel's heroes and victims of hostilities) this evening at sunset, we remember Israel's heroes who fell bravely in defense of the only small homeland we have been blessed with.
On Memorial Day, we slow down and unite with the memory of the fallen, and with a heavy heart, we embrace their families. This is a day of pain, of remembrance, and of deep appreciation for those who sacrificed their lives for the security of the country and its citizens. Today in particular, we make time and space to remember how dear the price many before us paid so that we could live here safely.
The spirit of heroism and faith continues to pulse within us, strengthening us, uniting us, and reminding us of the right and responsibility to live here.
As we transition to celebrating Yom Ha’atzma’ut on Wednesday, we thank God for the rebirth of Israel 78 years ago and for bringing His people back to this land.
Join us in praying for peace upon Israel and the restoration of the Jewish people.
