El Al’s offices in Paris were vandalized on Thursday morning with anti-Semitic graffiti, including the phrase “Genocide Airline,” spray-painted on the building. Red paint was also thrown at the site.

In response to the incident, the airline announced it would not maintain staff in the city at this time. Passenger services previously handled by El Al in Paris will be temporarily transferred to other airlines.

El Al issued a statement saying, “The incident occurred while the building was unoccupied, and there was no danger to employees. We view this act with utmost seriousness and are working with the relevant authorities to address the situation.”

The airline added, “El Al proudly displays the Israeli flag on its aircraft and strongly condemns all acts of violence, particularly those motivated by anti-Semitism.”

Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev also responded to the attack, stating, “Citizens of France, wake up. Today it’s El Al, tomorrow it could be Air France. When President Macron makes declarations that empower Hamas, this is the result. I strongly condemn this barbaric act and expect French law enforcement to identify those responsible and take firm action.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in an interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business on Wednesday, delivered a clear message regarding the path forward in Gaza, stressing the fundamental necessity of disarming and disbanding the Hamas terrorist organization to ensure long-term peace.

When asked about the possibility of Israel engaging in a full military takeover of Gaza, Rubio reaffirmed the US position that Israel's security decisions are its own. "Ultimately the President has said that it's up to Israel to decide what they need to do for their own security," Rubio stated.

Rubio articulated three interconnected problems in the region, noting that while all are critical, the focus of global attention has been disproportionately on a single issue. "The first is there is a humanitarian problem that needs to be addressed," he said, adding that "we're working very hard to figure out ways to address it in ways that don't benefit Hamas."

He quickly pivoted to what he sees as the two neglected issues. "The second is that there are 20 innocent human beings that are being held hostage in horrifying conditions, and the third is that as long as Hamas exists, there will not be peace."

"There's a lot of attention being paid to the humanitarian... but not enough attention being paid to the fact that 20 people that had nothing to do with this are being held hostage in tunnels on the verge of death, and no real talk about how Hamas needs to be disarmed and disbanded."

He concluded by reiterating the US commitment to the full release of all hostages and the total eradication of Hamas as a military and governing force.

“Lord, we pray for the swift release of the innocent hostages and for an end to the terror that Hamas inflicts. We ask for Your justice to prevail, for wisdom for world leaders, and for enduring peace to take root in Israel and Gaza.”

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danon and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar spoke to reporters on Tuesday, August 5, ahead of the UN Security Council's meeting on the ongoing hostage crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Danon noted that Israel had called for the Security Council to meet "after we saw the horrific footage last week of hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski in terrible conditions. Innocent souls who remain in Hamas terror tunnels."

Minister Sa'ar declared, "I came to the United Nations today because our hostages are still being starved and tortured by Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the dungeons of Gaza. They cannot be forgotten."

He condemned countries that seek to recognize a Palestinian state while Hamas continues its atrocities. "They gave Hamas free gifts and an incentive to continue this war. They directly assassinated the hostage deal and ceasefire."

"The international pressure must be on Hamas. Anything else only prolongs this war," Sa'ar concluded.

“Heavenly Father, we ask for Your intervention in the lives of the hostages. May their suffering be ended, may justice be served against their tormentors, and may the world unite in truth and righteousness against evil.”

Over a thousand antisemitic crimes, including two attempted murders, were recorded in Germany in the first quarter of 2025, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) revealed.

The BKA’s report noted that the vast majority of antisemitic crimes are attributable to right-wing extremism. However, “antisemitism is widespread throughout society.”

The report said, “Antisemitism is part of Germany’s history, still exists today in traditional narratives, and also has roots in Christian culture,” adding that “antisemitic crimes threaten Jewish people in Germany and represent an attack on our democracy.”

A total of 1,047 criminal offenses were reported under the subcategory “antisemitic” via the Police Crime Reporting Service for Politically Motivated Crime (KPMD-PMK). Among them were 27 violent crimes and 422 cases of incitement to hatred. Seven individuals were arrested.

In the largest export deal in Israel’s history, NewMed Energy and its Leviathan gas partners have signed a $35 billion agreement to supply approximately 130 billion cubic meters (BCM) of natural gas to Egypt by 2040.

The agreement, finalized with Egypt’s Blue Ocean Energy, significantly upgrades a previous deal and is expected to bolster regional energy cooperation while securing Israel’s domestic gas needs for decades.

NewMed, which leads the Leviathan Partnership, described the deal as “the most significant move since the discovery of gas reserves in Israel.”

The gas will continue flowing from the Leviathan reservoir, which began supplying Egypt in 2020 under an earlier agreement covering 60 BCM. So far, 23.5 BCM have been delivered, at an annual rate of around 4.5 BCM, including spot sales.

“Lord, may this deal bring stability and peace between neighbors. Let resources be used for prosperity and not war. We pray for continued cooperation that supports peace and righteousness in the region.”

Sir Keir Starmer warned that Palestine Action were targeting Jewish-owned businesses as he defended banning the group. The Prime Minister stated that the move was not intended to stifle debate on Gaza.

He outlined a history of break-ins, sabotage, and attacks on Jewish businesses by the group. The Government’s action makes membership of or support for Palestine Action a criminal offense punishable by up to 14 years in prison under the Terrorism Act 2000.

The move came after the group took credit for damaging aircraft at RAF Brize Norton in June. More than 500 people have said they are willing to be arrested in protest of the ban. Protests have led to over 200 arrests across the UK, with demonstrators holding placards saying, "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action."

Police have stated that any support shown for the proscribed group could result in arrest.

A majority of the Israeli Jewish public supports freedom of marriage, according to a new survey by the Smith Institute for Hiddush. 60% support recognizing all types of marriages, including civil, Conservative, and Reform ceremonies.

Even among Likud voters, 56% support marriage freedom. Among Religious Zionism and Otzma Yehudit voters, 24% are in favor. The support is strongest among opposition voters, with 85% of Bennett supporters backing it.

When asked what type of marriage they would prefer, only 53% chose Orthodox. The rest opted for alternative frameworks, such as Reform, Conservative, or civil marriage.

The London-based media outlet Iran International has filed an urgent appeal to the United Nations, revealing that 45 of its journalists and more than 300 of their relatives across eight countries have received explicit death threats from Iran’s Intelligence Ministry.

The threats warn staff to stop reporting on Iran or face execution. This marks an unprecedented campaign of international intimidation targeting independent Persian-language media outlets.

Iran International reported coordinated efforts involving surveillance, cyberattacks, and harassment intended to silence dissent. Journalists in the UK, US, Canada, and across Europe have been targeted.

Media freedom advocates have called for urgent international intervention to protect press freedoms and those under threat.
