Hezbollah Launches Twice in Hours as Israel Weighs Striking Beirut

Hezbollah launched projectiles toward Israeli territory twice within hours on Wednesday, June 3, with both rounds crossing from Lebanon and both intercepted by the Israeli Air Force. After a full day of quiet, sirens sounded in the morning around the community of Manara and inside Kiryat Shmona, where the Air Force downed an unmanned aerial vehicle launched by the terrorist organization. Several hours later, fresh sirens were activated in the area of Misgav Am.

The Air Force acted again and intercepted two projectiles that crossed from Lebanon into Israel. The renewed launches came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu halted a planned Israeli strike in Beirut at the request of U.S. President Donald Trump. Netanyahu nonetheless made Israel’s position unequivocally clear this week, warning that if Hezbollah does not stop attacking Israeli cities and civilians, Israel will strike terrorist targets in Beirut.

Trump pointed to the diplomatic effort and said he had held a very good conversation with Netanyahu, adding that no soldiers would be going to Beirut. He also described a conversation with Hezbollah in which, he said, the group agreed that all firing would stop, that Israel would not attack them, and that they would not attack Israel. The latest interceptions leave that understanding in serious doubt, and Israel has signaled it is prepared to act against the heart of Hezbollah’s stronghold should the attacks persist.

Dear Lord, we lift up the communities of the north — Manara, Kiryat Shmona, Misgav Am and all the Galilee — living once more under siren and fire. We thank You for every interception, and we ask You to keep watch over those who guard the border, sharpening their vigilance and steadying their hands. Frustrate the schemes of Hezbollah and bring its terror to nothing, and grant Israel’s leaders wisdom and resolve in every decision they face. We pray that this land would dwell in true and lasting safety, in Yeshua’s Name.
