All Israeli Schools Cancel In-Person Classes After Iranian Missile Strikes on Southern Cities
Education Minister Yoav Kisch announced Saturday night, March 21, that all in-person schooling across Israel would be cancelled on Sunday and Monday following Iranian ballistic missile strikes on Dimona and Arad that wounded more than 100 people. The nationwide directive applied without exception, including all special education programs, with the entire school system shifting immediately to distance learning.
“In light of the attacks in Dimona and Arad” and following consultation with the IDF Home Front Command, Kisch stated that no face-to-face instruction would be permitted anywhere in the country on either day, with a security reassessment to be conducted before Tuesday. The Home Front Command simultaneously issued tightened guidelines across southern Israel, capping public gatherings at 50 people, provided a shelter was reachable, and permitting workplaces to open only where shelter access was guaranteed. These restrictions were set to remain in effect through Tuesday at 8 p.m.
Earlier on Saturday, a suspected Iranian cluster munition had struck an empty daycare in Rishon Lezion, causing significant structural damage but no casualties because schools were closed for Shabbat. The mayor of Rishon Lezion said local educational facilities would stay shuttered until he was personally satisfied with security conditions. Officials across the country characterized the nationwide closure as a precautionary measure to protect students while military operations against Iran continued.

“Heavenly Father, we lift up the children of Israel whose schools and daily lives have been disrupted by the ongoing conflict. We pray in Yeshua’s Name for Your protection over every student, every classroom, and every family navigating these uncertain days. Grant wisdom to the leaders and officials making difficult safety decisions under pressure, and give parents the supernatural peace that only You can provide. May You bring a swift end to this war and restore the safety and normalcy that Israel’s children deserve, keeping them in the shelter of Your wings. In Yeshua’s Name, amen.”
