Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held his first English-language press conference since the start of the Iran war in Jerusalem on Wednesday, March 19, declaring that after 20 days of Operation Roaring Lion, Iran can no longer enrich uranium or manufacture ballistic missiles. Netanyahu praised the close coordination between Israel and the United States and described the two nations’ combined air forces and intelligence services as capable of confronting what he called “barbarians” with precision and lethality.

Netanyahu dismissed claims that Israel had dragged the United States into the conflict, calling the suggestion “ridiculous.” He emphasized that President Donald Trump makes his own decisions based on American interests and added that the joint campaign is achieving its goals at unprecedented speed. He also mocked Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, saying the successor to the elder Khamenei—who was killed in the initial wave of strikes on February 28—has been unable to show his face in public.

Hours after Netanyahu’s remarks, Iran fired a series of missiles at Israel, triggering sirens in Jerusalem and across northern Israel. The prime minister warned that the campaign would continue as long as necessary but predicted it would conclude faster than many expect. A senior Israeli Air Force official revealed the staggering scale of Operation Roaring Lion on Wednesday, March 19, disclosing that in just 18 days the air force flew the equivalent of an entire year’s routine operations. More than 12,000 munitions have been dropped, and approximately 8,500 strikes have been carried out across Iran, while over 90% of incoming threats launched toward Israel have been intercepted.

In the Iranian theater alone, some 5,700 combat sorties were conducted alongside more than 540 strike formations over central and western regions and around 50 deep-strike missions. Roughly 3,600 munitions were dropped on Tehran. On the northern front in Lebanon, more than 2,200 munitions were deployed, and about 2,000 targets struck. The official said the opening salvo timed 40 munitions to neutralize 40 individuals within 40 seconds, followed by the largest sortie in the Air Force’s history—about 200 aircraft striking launch sites and infrastructure.

The official added that approximately 85% of Iran’s key air defense and detection systems have been destroyed. Significant damage has also been inflicted on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ command-and-control capabilities and military industry, with more than 1,200 munitions dropped on production facilities. The campaign was carried out through extensive prior planning, continuous intelligence, and strategic cooperation with the United States.

Iran executed three men on Thursday, March 19, after convicting them of involvement in the killing of two police officers during anti-government protests in January. An estimated 25,000 flight tickets have been affected, covering destinations across Europe, including London, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Barcelona, and many others.

The airline stated that it is currently unable to offer alternative flights to customers whose bookings were canceled and is providing either a full refund or a credit voucher for future use. Meanwhile, Israir has canceled regular flights until April 12, and Arkia has suspended operations until March 28, leaving Israeli travelers with extremely limited options.

International carriers have also pulled back sharply. United Airlines announced it would not resume service to Israel until mid-June—an unusually long suspension. American Airlines has postponed flights until March 23, while Delta Airlines has canceled service through April 1. The widespread cancellations reflect the severity of the ongoing security situation as the war with Iran continues into its third week.

American podcaster Tucker Carlson drew sharp criticism on Wednesday, March 19, after coming to the defense of Oswald Mosley, a British fascist who held his wedding at the home of Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels in Berlin with Adolf Hitler among the guests. Carlson claimed Mosley’s “only crime” was being in opposition to Winston Churchill and that this was the reason he was arrested during World War II.

Of the 154 incidents recorded globally, 73—nearly half—were directly linked to the Iran war, including incitement against Jews, conspiracy theories blaming Jews for the conflict, and explicit glorification of the Tehran regime.

Physical attacks on Jewish institutions have escalated across multiple continents. A synagogue in Liège, Belgium, was damaged by an explosion on March 9. A man rammed a vehicle into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, on March 12, sparking a fire inside the building before security personnel shot and killed the attacker. A Jewish school in Amsterdam was bombed on March 14, and gunshots were fired at a Toronto synagogue on March 2. European governments, including Belgium and Italy, have deployed soldiers to protect Jewish sites.

Far-right and Islamist actors have both fueled the surge, spreading antisemitic tropes across social media platforms. Violent online threats against Jewish communities rose 95% since the start of the conflict. Jewish communities worldwide are now spending an estimated $760 million annually on security—funds that would otherwise go to schools, social services, and community programs.
