IDF Eliminates Hamas Commander Who Invaded Israel on October 7 in Targeted Gaza Strike

The IDF and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) killed Hamas commander Jamal Mahmoud Abu Kamil in a targeted strike in Gaza City on Thursday, August 13, the military announced. Abu Kamil was among the terrorists who invaded Israeli territory during the October 7, 2023, massacre, and he continued to work toward the goal of harming Israeli soldiers and civilians over the past three years.

The Israeli Air Force on Thursday also struck a terror cell in Khan Yunis, the second “attack of choice” in two days, following a pause in such operations since a new US-Hamas deal was reached in late July. Military sources said the cell was not especially senior, but it was in the process of planning an operation against IDF forces and was moving to carry it out shortly.

Since the deal took effect, the IDF has held back from striking Hamas members who took part in the October 7 invasion, as well as other strategic Hamas assets and leaders. At the same time, the military continues to carry out attacks against operatives it knows are advancing toward an attack, acting to remove threats to its forces before they can strike.

“Dear Lord, we thank You for protecting our soldiers and for granting them success in removing those who seek our destruction. We pray in Yeshua's Name that You continue to guide our defense forces with precision and wisdom, and that every terrorist who plotted evil against Your people will be brought to justice. Please shield our troops from all harm and grant our leaders discernment as they act to keep Israel safe.”
