British Airways Extends Israel Flight Suspension Through End of October

British Airways announced earlier this week that it is extending the suspension of flights to most Middle East destinations through the end of the summer schedule, at least until October 25, 2026. The affected routes include Tel Aviv, alongside Dubai, Bahrain, and Amman. The carrier cited regional security uncertainty and the difficulty of reaching a stable arrangement with Iran as reasons for continuing to freeze the routes even during the busiest travel season of the year.

The airline plans to resume service to the Gulf destinations of Doha, Qatar, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in August. Qatar Airways holds a 25 percent stake in British Airways’ parent company, International Airlines Group, which also owns Iberia, Aer Lingus, and Vueling. Several other major international carriers have likewise extended their cancellations to the region in recent weeks.

Delta Air Lines will not resume its New York–Tel Aviv route before September 6, has suspended the Atlanta route until December 18, and has postponed the launch of a new Boston–Tel Aviv route with no date set. American Airlines extended its cancellations to Tel Aviv and Doha until January 2027, which would leave it absent from the Israeli market for more than three years. Against this wave of retreat there is one notable exception: Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, currently operating two daily flights to Israel, is expected to expand to as many as six daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv starting June 15.
