Trump: Iran Is 'Completely Collapsing' as Washington Enters the 'Endgame'

US President Donald Trump declared on Monday, August 24, that Iran is "completely collapsing" as a result of the sustained economic and military pressure it faces. The declaration came in a post to his Truth Social platform, where the president wrote: "IRAN IS COMPLETELY COLLAPSING!!! President DJT."

Trump’s assessment followed remarks a day earlier from US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who said on Sunday, August 23, that Washington is approaching the "endgame" in its confrontation with Iran, following what he described as the destruction of much of Tehran’s military capabilities. "President Trump has dismantled Iran’s military capabilities, destroyed nearly 100 percent of its military factories, and buried its nuclear program," Bessent wrote on social media.

The Treasury Secretary indicated that the financial phase of the campaign is only beginning, arguing that the administration has fundamentally changed the balance of pressure between Washington and Tehran. "We are now entering the endgame. At dawn begins an economic D-Day - the single greatest financial offensive ever marshaled against an adversary," he added. "The Islamic Republic has subsisted by dressing extortion as security guarantees. It has drawn strength from a calculus that regards Iranian retaliation as certain and American enforcement as negotiable. Under President Trump, that era is over."
