Man Arrested for Plot to Supply Arms for Attack on Jewish Targets in Germany

German prosecutors say an Afghan national was arrested in Denmark on Wednesday, November 5, on suspicion of agreeing to procure a weapon for a third party and inciting them to carry out attacks against Jewish targets in Berlin. Identified as Tawab M. under German privacy rules, the suspect allegedly communicated with a Danish national tied to hostile intelligence collection on Jewish individuals and sites in the German capital.

Authorities state the suspect has a history of obtaining weapons, accessories, and explosive devices in Denmark and had offered assistance in late May. He now faces proceedings that could lead to extradition to Germany, where a judge will weigh whether he remains in custody pending formal charges.

The arrest comes amid heightened counterterror measures, including bans on extremist organizations and wider sweeps targeting Islamist networks. German security officials have bolstered protection for Jewish and Israeli facilities following regional escalation earlier this year, while Berlin’s fraught ties with Tehran continue to shape the threat environment across Europe.
