Iran Can Already Produce Nuclear Bombs, Says Ayatollah's Advisor

Iran is already capable of producing nuclear weapons, the country’s Supreme Leader said Sunday, July 17, claiming that Tehran has yet to decide whether it wants to build one.

Kamal Kharazi, a top adviser to Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, spoke with Al Jazeera in an interview published Sunday afternoon, telling the Arabic outlet that Iran’s nuclear program is already capable of producing uranium at 90% enrichment.

“In a few days we were able to enrich uranium up to 60% and we can easily produce 90% enriched uranium,” Kharazi said. “Iran has the technical means to produce a nuclear bomb but there has been no decision by Iran to build it.”

Kharazi warned that Tehran would retaliate against any attack by Israel on its nuclear facilities, claiming that Iran has conducted “extensive maneuvers with the aim of striking Israel hard if our sensitive facilities are targeted.”

In the interview, Kharazi, who leads Iran’s Strategic Council for Foreign Policies, also claimed that Israel “is in a phase of weakness,” saying that President Joe Biden’s support for the Jewish state “will not bring it back to the fore.” (INN/ VFI News)

Isolated by West, Putin Arrives in Tehran to Deepen Russia-Iran Relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived Tuesday, July 19, in Iran for a visit intended to deepen ties with regional heavyweights, as part of Moscow’s challenge to the United States and Europe, amid its grinding campaign in Ukraine.

In only his second trip abroad since Russian tanks rolled into its neighbor in February, Putin is scheduled to hold talks with Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the pressing issues facing the region, including the conflict in Syria and an UN-backed proposal to resume exports of Ukrainian grain to ease the global food crisis.

As the West heaps sanctions on Russia and the costly campaign drags on, Putin is seeking to bolster ties with Tehran, a fellow target of severe US sanctions, and a potential military and trade partner. In recent weeks, Russian officials visited an airfield in central Iran at least twice to review Tehran’s weapons-capable drones for possible use in Ukraine, the White House has alleged. Russia Requests Closure of Jewish Agency for Israel

The Russian Justice Ministry has requested the liquidation of the Jewish Agency for Israel, a media outlet reported on Thursday afternoon, July 21. Senior sources in the Jewish Agency told The Jerusalem Post that nothing has changed since the last report on the Russian request to close down the organization's offices in Moscow — since the appeal that the agency has made to the court.

The Post has learned that there will be a court discussion on the case next week. Till then, the agency is trying to fight its case.

"The information you have is inaccurate," said Jewish Agency spokeswoman Hagit Halali. "A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for next Thursday on the matter and this is the continuation of the legal proceedings. As we have said so far, we will not respond during the legal process."

"The decision of the Justice Ministry to close the Agency hasn't changed. The Agency went on appeal to extend the time it has in order to save its operations in Russia," said a source close to the Agency. (JPost/VFI News)

Antisemitic German Military Officer Convicted on Far-Right Terrorism Charges

A German military officer was found guilty on July 15th of plotting to assassinate prominent public figures in an act of far-right terrorism and was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.

1st Lt. Franco A. was first arrested five years ago after he was caught trying to collect a loaded gun at a Vienna airport. Following his arrest, an investigation was launched, spanning three countries and their respective intelligence agencies.

During the investigation, the intelligence operatives discovered that he had adopted a false identity as part of his plan, posing as a Syrian refugee. According to German media, Franco was granted refugee status by Germany in 2016, despite knowing only basic Arabic and not having any identification.

During his trial, Franco claimed that he had assumed the identity of a Syrian refugee in order to find a weakness in Germany's immigration system, and denied the charge that he had used his fake identity to prepare for a "false flag attack,". Also uncovered in the investigation was Franco's connection to a network of far-right police officers and soldiers preparing for the day the social order collapsed, referred to by the group as "Day X." Meet the New and Improved Israeli Irrigation System

In order to advance the agriculture industry and new techniques for it, the Agriculture Ministry is marketing a digital irrigation system that will give vintners (wine merchants) accurate data and efficient tools to grow high-quality grapes.

This system tells farmers how much water to use based on the most accurate weather information, and will save growers unnecessary water costs while preventing produce damage.

A simple web interface allows wine producers and amateur grape growers to use data from the Ministry’s own weather stations and is tailored to gather data based on conditions in each area. This accuracy aims to prevent wasting water.

The system sends WhatsApp alerts to the vintners and connects directly to the irrigation systems to order the precise amount of water. Growers enter data such as location, grape varieties, desired level of wine quality, and the number of dunams.

Also, the grower will provide the frequent watering frequency every day, every week, and even every two weeks. All this data will be stored in the system. (JPost / VFI News)

Liftoff: Israeli Startup’s ‘Flying Car’ Aces First Test

An Israeli startup that is developing a “flying” vehicle, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for individual consumers, said its prototype aircraft successfully completed a first hover test with regulators recently, setting the company on a path for further flight certification.

Pardes Hanna-based startup AIR began accepting pre-orders for its AIR ONE aircraft, an all-electric two-seater eVTOL, last October after unveiling the first designs for the consumer market.

The aircraft, according to the company, offers a range of 110 miles (177 km) on a single charge at speeds of up to 155 miles (250 km) per hour, with a flight time of one hour. It has collapsible wings for easy parking and the ability to take off from or land on any flat surface, the company says.

The AIR ONE already has an airworthiness certificate, and a permit to operate an aircraft in flight, and in June embarked on a hover test that saw the full-scale prototype take flight above the green fields of Kibbutz Megiddo in northern Israel, under the supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority. Israeli Embassy in Italy Partners in New Hebrew Alphabet Design Project

The revival of the Hebrew language is a unique event in modern history. From a dead language without any natural speakers, Hebrew became the spoken language of millions around the world, used as their primary mother tongue. The revitalization of Hebrew began in Europe and the land of Israel toward the end of the 19th century when Hebrew changed from what had become an exclusively sacred language of prayer, ritual, and study into a modern, spoken, and written language. The story of the extraordinary transformation of the Hebrew language is unknown to many non-Jewish audiences worldwide.

With this background in mind, the Embassy of Israel in Rome began a new initiative, seeking creative ways to introduce Hebrew to new audiences. The Embassy partnered with the European Institute of Design in Rome (IED Rome) and the National Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah (MEIS) in Ferrara, and created a unique project entitled “Designing Hebrew.”

The results of the project have been striking. The designers have created original artistic representations of the Hebrew letters and have interpreted them with a fresh, new perspective. Their works present hidden values and messages to be unfolded by the viewers. The designed letters were enlarged to a huge scale and are currently occupying the entire external facades of the Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah (MEIS) in Ferrara until February 2023. The original works will be presented in other locations throughout Italy over the next several months. (JPost/ VFI News)
