Iran To Hold Nuclear Talks In Geneva With UK, France, And Germany
Tehran said deputy–foreign minister-level talks with Britain, France, and Germany would convene in Geneva on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, amid mounting pressure from the European trio to curb uranium enrichment and restore full access for IAEA inspectors. European capitals have warned they could trigger the UN “snapback” mechanism if Iran does not step back from its nuclear advances.
The talks follow a summer of escalations that included a 12-day war in June and Iranian aerial barrages, which European governments and Israel cite as proof that diplomatic time is running short.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian consulted Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of the meeting, and Moscow signaled opposition to snapback sanctions. European officials, according to reporting cited by ToI, are considering deadline extensions if Iran re-engages substantively with Washington and the IAEA. Iran continues to deny any intention of pursuing nuclear weapons.
