Hamas Members Executed and Maimed Dozens of Palestinians in Gaza, UN Report Says

Hamas terrorists and police units in Gaza beat, maimed, and publicly executed dozens of Palestinians during the war with Israel in acts amounting to war crimes, a United Nations report released on Tuesday, June 9, found. The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights documented hundreds of cases of extrajudicial punishment in the territory, many of them publicized during and after the fact to instill fear in the population.

The abuses involved executions, kneecapping, bone-breaking with metal pipes or cement bricks, and beatings, framed by the perpetrators as punishment for alleged collaboration with Israel, looting of humanitarian aid, theft, drug-related offenses, or affiliation with internal rivals. Rather than being imposed through courts or judges, the punishments were carried out directly by Hamas’s military wing and police units.

Hamas-affiliated operatives and police forces were involved in nearly one-fourth of the 249 documented cases — including 108 deaths — recorded from August 2024 to January 2026. Representatives for Hamas did not respond to questions about the findings. Hamas has ruled Gaza for nearly two decades since seizing control from the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority, and since an October 2025 ceasefire halted more than two years of full-scale war with Israel, it has steadily reconsolidated its grip over the areas it still governs.

Our Heavenly Father, we grieve over the cruelty and bloodshed inflicted upon civilians under the rule of terror of Hamas in Gaza, and we ask that You bring comfort to all who suffer under this oppression. We pray that You expose every hidden act of violence and bring its perpetrators to justice and to repentance. We ask that You dismantle the grip of Hamas over the people it holds captive and raise up righteous leadership in its place. We pray for the day when peace and freedom replace fear throughout the land, in Yeshua’s Name.
